KISS will perform on Thursday, June 29, 2023, starting with 9.30 pm, in Piazza Napoleone, in Lucca, as part of the Lucca Summer Festival 2023.
KISS
KISS was founded in 1973 in New York City by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley. The band, known for its members’ face paint and stage outfits, rose to prominence in the second half of the 1970s.
Over time, the band gone through several lineup changes, with Stanley and Simmons being the only remaining original members.
Today, besides the two original members, the band includes Eric Singer (drums, backing and lead vocals) and Tommy Thayer (lead guitar, backing and lead vocals).
Starting with the band’s eponymous debut album, appeared in 1974, the band released twenty studio albums and sixty singles to date.
The group is regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of all time. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, KISS is also one of the best-selling bands of all time.
In 2014, the four original members of KISS were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
LUCCA SUMMER FESTIVAL
The first edition of the Lucca Summer Festival was held in 1998, when Bob Dylan, George Benson and Joe Cocker performed on stage.
Over time, important names attended the festival, such as David Bowie, James Brown, Mark Knopfler, Jamiroquai, Seal, Zucchero, Ray Charles, Elton John, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, Oasis, Anastacia, Giorgia, Green Day, Ennio Morricone, The Rolling Stones, Sting, Scorpions, Alanis Morissette, The Cranberries, Buena Vista Social Club, Joan Baez, Natalie Cole, Youssou N’Dour, and Eagles.
As usual, the Lucca Summer Festival 2023 will take place during the month of July, in Lucca. So far, besides Kiss, the participation of Simply Red, Celine Dion, Blur and OneRepublic was announced.
THE VENUE
Piazza Napoleone is the main square of Lucca, and one of the venues where, every year in the summer, is held one of the most important music festivals in Italy, the Lucca Summer Festival.
Piazza Napoleone is located inside the city walls of Lucca, about 650 meters away from the Lucca railway station. The closest bus stop is Napoleone, located in the northwestern corner of the square, on the bus Lines 5, LAM Blu and LAM Verde.
