CELINE DION
Born in Charlemagne, Quebec, Celine Dion emerged as a teen star with a series of French-language albums during the 1980s. In 1988, she gained international recognition by winning the Eurovision Song Contest, where she represented Switzerland.
In 1990, Celine Dion released her debut English-language album, Unison. During the 1990s, she achieved worldwide fame with albums like Falling into You, released in 1996, and Let’s Talk About Love, released in 1997. She also had a series of number-one hits, such as The Power of Love, Think Twice, Because You Loved Me, It’s All Coming Back to Me Now and My Heart Will Go On.
Over time, Celine Dion won five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year, and she remains the best-selling Canadian artist, with record sales of 200 million copies worldwide.
LUCCA SUMMER FESTIVAL
The first edition of the Lucca Summer Festival was held in 1998, when Bob Dylan, George Benson and Joe Cocker performed on stage.
Over time, important names attended the festival, such as David Bowie, James Brown, Mark Knopfler, Jamiroquai, Seal, Zucchero, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, Oasis, Anastacia, Giorgia, Green Day, Ennio Morricone and The Rolling Stones.
As usual, the Lucca Summer Festival 2023 will take place during the month of July, in Lucca. So far, besides Celine Dion, the participation of Simply Red, OneRepublic and Blur was announced.
THE VENUE
The former Balilla Field is located near the historical center of Lucca, between Viale Giosuè Carducci and the sixteenth-century walls of the city.
Starting with the post-war period, it was used as a sports field where the first local soccer championships were held. For several years, it has been used as a park.
The closest bus stop is Carducci 1, located near the field, on the bus Lines 5, 6, 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, LAM BLU, LAM ROSSA and LAM VERDE. The Lucca railway station is located about 500 meters away.
