Riva del Garda was settled for the first time during the Neolithic, more precisely in the Bronze Age. Riva del Garda belonged in turn to the Republic of Venice, to the Bishopric of Trent, to the Napoleon’s Kingdom of Italy and later, between 1815 and 1918, to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1918, after the end of the First World War, Riva del Garda, along with the rest of Trentino, became part of Italy.

To get from the airport to Riva del Garda, first take the shuttle bus Aerobus to the Verona Porta Nuova railway station for a 15 minutes trip. A ticket costs 6€. Then, from the railway station, take one of the ATV buses 162, 163, 164, 165 to Garda for an hour trip. The ticket is 5€. Finally, take the bus Line 484 from Garda to Riva del Garda for a 70 minutes trip. The ticket costs 6€.
As an alternative, you can buy an ATV one day pass for 10€. The pass enables you to travel for 24 hours on urban and extraurban bus lines of Verona and the suburban area, including the area of Lake Garda.

The most important tourist attractions in Riva del Garda are Rocca di Riva, a medieval fortress located in the historical center of the town, Torre Apponale, a defensive tower built in the 13th century, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, built in the 18th century, and the Church of Santa Maria Inviolata, built in Baroque style at the beginning of the 17th century.
