About
The English rock band Blur will perform on Saturday, July 22, 2023, starting with 8.00 pm, in the former Campo Balilla, alongside the City Walls of Lucca. The concert is part of the Lucca Summer Festival 2023.
BLUR
Blur was formed in London in 1988. The band consists of singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree.
Their debut album, Leisure, was released in 1991. In 1993, the band released Modern Life Is Rubbish, Parklife in 1994, and The Great Escape in 1995. With these albums, Blur popularised the britpop genre and achieved mass popularity in the UK.
The band’s self-titled fifth album was released in 1997, and became their third UK chart-topping album. The single Song 2 brought the band mainstream success in the United States.
Their next album, 13, released in 1999, saw the band experimenting with electronic and gospel music. Their seventh album, Think Tank, was released in 2003. Around then, Coxon left the band, and Blur disbanded for several years.
In 2009, the band reunited and embarked on a European reunion tour. In the following years, they released several singles and compilations and toured internationally.
Their eighth album, The Magic Whip, released in 2015, was the sixth consecutive studio album to top the British chart. Blur was on hiatus since the The Magic Whip tour, but announced plans to reunite in 2023 for various live dates.

The closest bus stop is Carducci 1, located near the field, on the bus Lines 5, 6, 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, LAM BLU, LAM ROSSA and LAM VERDE. The Lucca railway station is located about 500 meters away.
