Depeche Mode will perform on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, starting with 9.00 pm, at the Olimpico Stadium, in Rome, as part of their Memento Mori World Tour 2023.
THE BAND
Depeche Mode was formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The band currently consists of Dave Gahan (lead vocals, songwriting) and Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, songwriting). Andy Fletcher, the keyboard player of Depeche Mode, died on May 26, 2022.
The band released their debut album, Speak & Spell, in 1981. One year later, they released A Broken Frame, and their third studio album, Construction Time Again, in 1983. Black Celebration was released in 1986, and Music for the Masses in 1987, establishing them as a dominant force within the electronic music scene.
In 1990, Depeche Mode released Violator, an international mainstream success. The following album, Songs of Faith and Devotion, was released in 1993, Ultra in 1997, and Exciter in 2001. Their eleventh studio album, Playing the Angel, was released in 2005, Sounds of the Universe appeared in 2009, and Delta Machine in 2013.
Their last album to date, Spirit, was released in 2017. The upcoming fifteenth studio album of the band, Memento Mori, is set to be released in March 2023.
The band had 54 songs in the UK Singles Chart and 17 Top 10 albums in the UK chart. They sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Depeche Mode was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2020.
