The Scottish rock band Simple Minds will perform on Sunday, July 17, 2022, starting with 9.00 pm, at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, in the Cavea amphitheater, in Rome. The concert is part of the Roma Summer Fest 2022.

The concert, initially planned for July 15, 2020, was postponed first to July 13, 2021, and then to July 17, 2022.
Besides the concert in Rome, Simple Minds will also appear on stage in Taormina, on July 12, 2022, in Pescara, on July 14, 2022, in Pistoia, on July 15, 2022, and in Verona, on July 18, 2022.
THE BAND
Simple Minds was formed in 1977, in Glasgow. The current lineup of the band consists of the two remaining original members – Jim Kerr (vocals) and Charlie Burchill (electric & acoustic guitars, saxophone and violin), and the more recent members – Ged Grimes (bass guitar), Cherisse Osei (drums), Sarah Brown (backing vocals) and Gordy Goudie (additional guitar & keyboards).
Simple Minds became best known internationally for their hit Don’t You (Forget About Me), released in 1985. Their other prominent hit singles include Alive and Kicking and Belfast Child.
They were the most commercially successful Scottish band of the 1980s and, over the course of their career, they sold more than 60 million albums.
THE FESTIVAL
Roma Summer Fest is a summer music festival produced by the Musica per Roma Foundation in a unique venue – the Auditorium Parco della Musica, designed by the great architect Renzo Piano.
Among the artists who performed at the previous editions of the festival, we can mention Elton John, Sting, Bjork, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Paolo Conte, José Carreras, Patti Smith, Arctic Monkeys, Simple Minds, Ringo Starr, Mogwai, Franz Ferdinand, Steven Tyler, Sting and Shaggy.
The lineup for the 2022 edition of the festival includes names like Lorde, Skunk Anansie, Deep Purple, Michael Kiwanuka and LP.
THE VENUE
Auditorium Parco della Musica, designed by Renzo Piano and completed on December 21, 2002, represents a complex of halls dedicated to music, in particular, and to art, in general. The Cavea is an open-air amphitheater in the heart of the Auditorium, which can accommodate up to 3,000 spectators.
Auditorum Parco della Musica is located in Largo Luciano Berio, in the northwest of Rome. The closest bus stop is De Coubertin/Auditorium, located about 110 meters away, on the bus Lines 53, 168, 910 and 982.
