Umbria Jazz Festival 2024

The first edition of the festival was held in 1973. Since then, every year, during the month of July, Perugia hosts concerts of famous jazz players from around the world.

Since its inception, Umbria Jazz has earned a reputation for excellence, attracting legendary performers and devoted fans year after year.

Over time, Umbria Jazz hosted some of the biggest names in jazz history, including Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Herbie Hancock, among others.

Each performance is a testament to the enduring influence of jazz and its ability to captivate audiences with its improvisational spirit and soulful melodies.

In recent years, Umbria Jazz Festival also opened its doors to other musical genres.

From the smooth sounds of traditional jazz to the innovative rhythms of contemporary fusion, the festival now showcases a diverse array of talent that represents the breadth and depth of the genre.

THE VENUES OF THE UMBRIA JAZZ FESTIVAL 2024

From intimate club performances to open-air concerts in historical piazzas, the festival offers a variety of venues and settings to suit every musical preference.

The wide appeal of the event attracts people in the main squares of the city, especially in Piazza IV Novembre, where Fontana Maggiore, Palazzo dei Priori and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo act as a backdrop for the musical show.

However, since 2003, the most important concerts of the festival take place on the Arena Santa Giuliana, a stadium in Perugia, used mainly for soccer games.

Arena Santa Giuliana was born in 1937, based on a project by the architect Giuseppe Lilli, to provide the city of Perugia with a real stadium.

The stadium is located in the historical center of the city, about 1.3 kilometers away from the Perugia railway station.
