The American band Dream Theater will perform on Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at the PalaLottomatica, in Rome, as part of their Distance Over Time tour.
THE BAND
The band was formed in 1985 by John Petrucci, John Myung and Mike Portnoy, under the name Majesty. The three original members remained together until September 8, 2010, when Mike Portnoy left the band. In 2011, Mike Mangini was introduced as the new drummer.
To date, Dream Theater released fourteen studio albums, with the band’s best-selling album being Images and Words, appeared in 1992. Throughout their career, the band sold over 12 million records worldwide and received two Grammy Award nominations.
THE VENUE
PalaLottomatica, known also as Palazzo dello Sport, is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment arena in Rome, located in the heart of the modern EUR complex. Designed by Pierluigi Nervi and Marcello Piacentini for the Olympic Games held in Rome in 1960, the arena was reopened in 2003 as a multi-purpose space.
The PalaLottomatica is located in Piazzale dello Sport, 1. The closest Metro station is EUR Fermi, on the Metro Line B, about 1.1 kilometers away. The closest bus station is Palazzo Sport, on the bus Lines 070, 071, 705 and 709, located right in front of the arena.
