Judas Priest, one of the most iconic bands in the history of heavy metal, has been a driving force in the genre for over five decades.

Hailing from Birmingham, England, a city also known as the birthplace of heavy metal, Judas Priest’s influence on the world of music is immeasurable.

With their groundbreaking sound, distinctive image, and electrifying live performances, the band has earned their place as pioneers of heavy metal.

Formed in 1969, Judas Priest emerged during a pivotal moment in rock history.

The original lineup underwent several changes before settling into the classic formation featuring Rob Halford (vocals), K.K. Downing (guitar), Glenn Tipton (guitar), and Ian Hill (bass).

Their self-titled debut album in 1974, Rocka Rolla, showcased a blues-inspired rock sound that hinted at the band’s potential but didn’t yet define their signature heavy metal style.

With their follow-up albums, Sad Wings of Destiny (1976) and Sin After Sin (1977), Judas Priest began to craft a more aggressive, riff-driven sound that would define heavy metal.

Judas Priest’s ascent to metal stardom came with their late-1970s and early-1980s releases, which cemented their reputation as innovators.

Their iconic twin-guitar attack, masterfully executed by Tipton and Downing, paired with Halford’s operatic and piercing vocals, became the blueprint for countless heavy metal bands.

The band’s longevity is a testament to their talent and adaptability. Despite lineup changes, Judas Priest has consistently delivered powerful music and unforgettable live shows.

In 2022, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a recognition of their enduring influence on music.

Judas Priest continues to tour and release new music, thrilling fans around the world. Their dedication to their craft and ability to evolve while staying true to their roots make them legends of heavy metal.

Piazza Ariostea, formerly known as Piazza Nuova and, for a brief period, Piazza Napoleone, is a square in Ferrara, located in the northern part of the historical center of the city.

The square has a rectangular shape with a lowered central ring made in 1933 for the Palio race.

At the center of the square stands the 16th-century column designed by Ercole Grandi, on which, since 1833, the statue of Ludovico Ariosto was placed.

Piazza Ariostea is located about 2 kilometers away from the Ferrara railway station. The closest bus stop is Porta Mare Ariostea, on the northern side of the square, on the bus Lines 3 and 4.
