About
Slipknot will perform on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, starting with 6.15 pm, in Piazza Ariostea, in Ferrara, as part of the Ferrara Summer Festival 2025.
SLIPKNOT
Slipknot was founded in 1995 by percussionist Shawn Crahan, drummer Joey Jordison and bassist Paul Gray in Des Moines, Iowa.
After several lineup changes, the band settled on nine members for more than a decade: Crahan, Jordison, Gray, Craig Jones, Mick Thomson, Corey Taylor, Sid Wilson, Chris Fehn and Jim Root.
Paul Gray died on May 24, 2010, and was replaced by guitarist Donnie Steele.
Joey Jordison left the band due to illness on December 12, 2013. After his departure, the only founding member in the current lineup is the percussionist Shawn Crahan.
Slipknot rose to fame after the release of their eponymous debut album in 1999. The 2001 follow-up album, Iowa, made the band more popular.
After a brief hiatus, Slipknot returned in 2004 with Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses, before going on another hiatus and returning in 2008 with its fourth album, All Hope Is Gone.
After another long hiatus, Slipknot released its fifth studio album, .5: The Gray Chapter, in 2014. Their sixth studio album, We Are Not Your Kind, was released on August 9, 2019.
The band has released two live albums, 9.0: Live and Day of the Gusano: Live in Mexico, a compilation album, Antennas to Hell, and five live DVDs. Over time, the band sold 30 million records worldwide.
FERRARA SUMMER FESTIVAL
The Ferrara Summer Festival, born in 2021, when many important Italian artists performed on stage, was conceived as a way to enhance the city’s cultural offerings and attract visitors from around the globe.
The music festival combines high-quality performances with the charm of Ferrara’s historical setting, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees.
PIAZZA ARIOSTEA
Piazza Ariostea, formerly known as Piazza Nuova and, for a brief period, Piazza Napoleone, is a square in Ferrara, located in the northern part of the historical center of the city.
The square has a rectangular shape with a lowered central ring made in 1933 for the Palio race.
At the center of the square stands the 16th-century column designed by Ercole Grandi, on which, since 1833, the statue of Ludovico Ariosto was placed.
Piazza Ariostea is located about 2 kilometers away from the Ferrara railway station. The closest bus stop is Porta Mare Ariostea, on the northern side of the square, on the bus Lines 3 and 4.
