The American rapper Macklemore will perform on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, in the Napoleone Square, in Lucca, as part of the Lucca Summer Festival 2019.
THE ARTIST
Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, known by the stage name Macklemore, is an American rapper from Seattle, who since 2000 has independently released two mixtapes and two studio albums.
In 2000, Haggerty recorded a mixtape titled Open Your Eyes under the name Professor Macklemore. Later, Haggerty dropped Professor from his name and began working on his first official album, called The Language of My World, which was released on January 1, 2005.
Macklemore’s second mixtape, The Unplanned Mixtape, was released on September 7, 2009. In the same year, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis formalized their collaboration as a duo. They released the EP The VS. EP.
Their album The Heist was released in October 2012, selling over 78,000 copies. On February 26, 2016, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released their second album entitled This Unruly Mess I’ve Made. On June 15, 2017, Macklemore announced via Instagram that the duo were on hiatus.
Macklemore released his solo studio album Gemini on September 22, 2017.
THE FESTIVAL
In 2019, Lucca Summer Festival, one of the most important music festivals in Italy, will take place during the month of July, in Lucca. The concerts are usually held within the historic walls of Lucca, in Piazza Napoleone, Piazza San Martino and Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, at the Porta Elisa soccer stadium in Lucca or at the Pini stadium in Viareggio.
Besides Macklemore, for the 2019 edition of the festival, the following names were announced: Take That on June 28, Toto on July 5, Elton John on July 7, and Mark Knopfler on July 13.
