Ed Sheeran @ The Lucca Summer Festival 2024

Ed Sheeran released his debut album, +, in September 2011, and the album topped the UK, Australian and US charts, being certified seven-times platinum in the UK.

In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. The single The A Team was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards.

His second studio album, x, was released in June 2014, and it peaked at number one in the UK and the US.

In 2015, x won the Brit Award for Album of the Year. The single Thinking Out Loud earned him two Grammy Awards at the 2016 ceremony – Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Sheeran’s third album, ÷, was released in March 2017, and it debuted at number one in the UK and the US. In April 2018, ÷ was named the best-selling album worldwide of 2017.

His fourth album, No.6 Collaborations Project, was released in 2019, and debuted at number one in most major markets.

His fifth studio album, =, was released in 2021, his sixth album, –, was released in May 2023, and his seventh album, Autumn Variations, was released in September 2023.

To date, Sheeran sold more than 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the world’s best-selling music artists.

LUCCA SUMMER FESTIVAL

The first edition of the Lucca Summer Festival was held in 1998, when Bob Dylan, George Benson and Joe Cocker performed on the stage of the festival.

Over time, important artists attended the festival, such as David Bowie, James Brown, Ray Charles, Elton John, Paul Simon, The Rolling Stones, Sting, and Scorpions.

As usual, the Lucca Summer Festival 2024 will take place during the month of July, in Lucca.

The concerts of the Lucca Summer Festival 2024 will be held in Piazza Napoleone, Piazza San Martino, Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, or in the former Campo Balilla, located outside the historic walls of Lucca.

Besides Ed Sheeran, other artists announced for the 2024 edition of the Lucca Summer Festival are Rod Stewart, Lenny Kravitz, Diana Krall, The Smashing Pumpkins, Toto, Mika, and Sam Smith.

CAMPO BALILLA

The former Balilla Field is located near the historical center of Lucca, between Viale Giosuè Carducci and the sixteenth-century walls of the city.

Starting with the post-war period, Campo Balilla was used as a sports field where the first local soccer championships were held. For several years, it was used as a park.

The closest bus stop is Carducci 1, located near the field, on the bus Lines 5, 6, 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, LAM BLU, LAM ROSSA and LAM VERDE. The Lucca railway station is located about 500 meters away.
