Gorillaz, the most successful virtual band ever, will play on Thursday, July 12, starting with 9.30 pm, in Piazza Napoleone, in Lucca, as part of Lucca Summer Festival 2018.
Gorillaz are an English band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn. The band consists of four animated members: 2-D (lead vocals, keyboards), Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar), Noodle (guitar, keyboards) and Russel Hobbs (drums and percussion).
The first album was Gorillaz, released in 2001, followed by Demon Days, in 2005, Plastic Beach in 2010 and The Fall in 2010. After a five-year hiatus, Gorillaz released their fifth album, Humanz, on April 28, 2017.
LUCCA SUMMER FESTIVAL 2018
Lucca Summer Festival is a musical event held since 1998, during the month of July, in Lucca. The concerts are held within the historic walls of the city, in Piazza Napoleone, Piazza San Martino and Piazza dell’Anfiteatro.
Of those who have participated in the past years at Lucca Summer Festival, we can mention David Bowie, Bob Dylan, James Brown, Mark Knopfler, Jamiroquai, Seal, Zucchero, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Anastacia, Giorgia, Green Day, Ennio Morricone and the Rolling Stones.
On 23 September 2017, alongside the City Walls, the historic Rolling Stones concert recorded the attendance record for this event – about 55,000 people.
