About
Loreto Fair (Fiera di Loreto), also known by its popular name Onions’ Fair, is a traditional fair in Spoleto, held every year on September 8 and 9.
SHORT HISTORY
Held for the first time in 1598, of the will of Pope Clement VIII, the fair was a moment of forgiveness, when bandits and rebels were granted immunities and everyone was allowed to participate. The day of the fair was, back then, the April 21.
In 1664, the fair was postponed to 13 June, for the Feast of St. Anthony. In modern times, the dates are 8 and 9 September, the fair being held on the occasion of the Nativity of the Virgin.
LORETO FAIR 2018 will be held, as usual, on September 8 and 9, in Viale Trento e Trieste, close to the Spoleto Train Station.
Fiera di Loreto is Spoleto’s biggest fair, where you can find all kinds of products, including clothing, gastronomy, houseware and the most diverse gifts.
