Deep Purple

Launched in 2019, Pisa Summer Knights was conceived as a cultural project aimed at enhancing the city’s artistic life while promoting tourism and international visibility.

The festival takes place in July in Piazza dei Cavalieri, transforming the historic square into a prestigious open-air venue for music and live entertainment.

Over the years, Pisa Summer Knights has hosted major Italian and international artists, establishing itself as one of Tuscany’s most important summer cultural events.

The Venue – Piazza dei Cavalieri

Piazza dei Cavalieri is, after the more famous Piazza dei Miracoli, the second most important square in the city of Pisa. Rich in political, cultural, and architectural history, the square has long been a symbol of civic power and intellectual life.

In medieval times, Piazza dei Cavalieri was the center of civil administration. From the second half of the 16th century, it became the headquarters of the Order of the Knights of Saint Stephen, established by Cosimo I de’ Medici.

The square’s current appearance is largely the result of Renaissance interventions, most notably those by Giorgio Vasari, who designed the Palazzo della Carovana, now home to the prestigious Scuola Normale Superiore.

Piazza dei Cavalieri is located approximately 1.4 kilometers from Pisa Centrale railway station, making it easily accessible on foot or by public transport.
