    Sting

Sting, born Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner on October 2, 1951 in Wallsend, England, is one of the most influential figures in contemporary music.

With a career spanning more than five decades, he has earned global acclaim for his work both as a solo artist and as the frontman of the iconic band The Police.

Sting first achieved fame as the lead singer, primary songwriter, and bassist for The Police, a trio that rose to international success in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The band’s unique blend of rock, reggae, and new wave produced a string of chart-topping hits and critical acclaim before disbanding in 1986.

Following the breakup of The Police, Sting launched a solo career that allowed him to explore a broader range of musical styles – from pop and rock to jazz, world music, and classical influences.

His distinct voice, poetic songwriting, and willingness to innovate have made him an enduring presence in music.

As a solo artist, Sting has released a substantial body of work, including 15 studio albums between 1985 and 2021. These albums have contributed to his reputation as a versatile and influential songwriter, blending genres and consistently delivering emotionally resonant music.

Among his notable solo studio albums are:

    • The Dream of the Blue Turtles (1985) – Sting’s debut solo album, featuring jazz-infused arrangements that set the tone for his solo career.
    • …Nothing Like the Sun (1987) – A deeply personal and critically acclaimed album.
    • Ten Summoner’s Tales (1993) – Featuring some of his most enduring solo work.
    • Brand New Day (1999) – A Grammy-winning album that reaffirmed his broad stylistic range.
    • The Bridge (2021) – One of his most recent studio works, demonstrating his continued creativity.

Combined with his work in The Police, Sting has sold well over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians in history.

Sting’s career has been honored with numerous awards. He has won 17 Grammy Awards as both a solo artist and a member of The Police, highlighting his impact on multiple phases of his career.

He has also received multiple Brit Awards, including Outstanding Contribution to Music, and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with The Police.

Additional accolades include an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe, and recognition for his contributions to songwriting and cultural influence.

    Bassano Music Park 2026

Bassano Music Park 2026 is the third edition of the summer music event held in Bassano del Grappa.

Organized in the beautiful Parco Ragazzi del ’99, the festival brings together national and international artists for a series of open-air concerts across July.

Rather than concentrating all performances into a single weekend, Bassano Music Park 2026 spreads major concerts across several key dates throughout the month.

The lineup includes globally recognized musicians, with Rod Stewart kicking off the festival on July 2, OneRepublic performing on July 10, and Sting closing out the summer on July 31.

This approach allows fans to attend individual shows or plan longer stays around the festival season, taking advantage of the historic town’s atmosphere and local attractions in addition to the music.

Bassano Music Park takes place in Parco Ragazzi del ’99, a central green space in Bassano del Grappa known for its relaxed environment and concert-ready layout.

Bassano del Grappa itself is a culturally rich town in northern Italy’s Veneto region, offering visitors a mix of historic architecture, local cuisine, and summer attractions that extend beyond the music.

The Venue – Parco Ragazzi del ’99

The Sting concert on July 31, 2026 will take place at Parco Ragazzi del ’99, a public park in Bassano del Grappa that serves as the festival’s home venue.

This open-air setting offers an engaging space for large-scale concerts while blending natural scenery with festival infrastructure.

Parco Ragazzi del ’99 is conveniently located near the center of Bassano del Grappa, providing easy access for residents and visitors. The venue’s position makes it a short journey from the town’s main transportation hubs, particularly the nearby Bassano del Grappa train station.

From the station, concertgoers have several options to reach the park:

    • On Foot: The park is within comfortable walking distance of the train station – typically around a brief 11-minute walk through the town center.
    • Public Transit: Local buses operate routes throughout Bassano del Grappa and can bring attendees closer to the park entrance for those who prefer not to walk.
    • Taxi / Ride-Share: Taxis and ride-share services are available outside the station, offering direct transport to the concert venue for added convenience.

During the days leading up to the concert, Parco Ragazzi del ’99 is a welcoming public space where locals and visitors alike enjoy its green lawns, shaded areas, and relaxed atmosphere – making it a great gathering spot both before and after performances.
