Actv, acronym for Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano, is the public transport company responsible for transportation in the Venetian Lagoon and in the province of Venice. Actv manages the transport of passengers and tourists by waterbus (vaporetto) and ferry in the lagoon and by bus and tram on the mainland. The junction point between the two transport systems is located in Piazzale Roma, at the end of the Ponte della Libertà, which connects the mainland (Mestre) to Venice. WATERBUS ROUTES The Central Lines 1, 2 and 2/ are active throughout the year and run along the Grand Canal. The Line 1 has many stops on both sides of the Grand Canal. The Line 2 is used for the connection with the Giudecca Island and for a faster trip along the Grand Canal, having fewer stops. During the summer season, the Line 2 makes the connection with the Lido Island. The shuttle Line 2/ makes a fast connection between Piazzale Roma and Rialto. Terravision Transfer Treviso Airport-Venice
The Italian coach service operator Terravision offers connections between the Antonio Canova Airport, located near Treviso, and Venice, in partnership with the local transport company Barzi Service. ROUTE At the Treviso Airport, the Terravision bus stops outside the Terminal, in front of the Arrivals. A trip from the airport to Mestre takes about 30 minutes and a trip to Venice about 40 minutes. In Mestre, the bus stops near the Mestre railway station and, in Venice, on the Tronchetto Island. TIMETABLE Every day, Terravision has 15 departures from Treviso Airport to Venice, starting with 8.40 am. The last departure is at 8.30 pm. From Venice to Treviso Airport, there are 15 daily departures between 6.00 in the morning and 7.30 in the evening. FARES A one-way ticket from Treviso Airport to Venice and from Venice to Treviso Airport costs 11€. A roundtrip costs 20€. Young children, 0-10 years old, travel free.
Marco Polo International Airport
Marco Polo International Airport is the main airport of Venice, located about 13 kilometers from the center of the city. The airport is named after the famous Venetian merchant and traveler Marco Polo. The airport terminal has three floors: the ground floor for Arrivals and the second floor for Departures. In 2017, the airport handled over 10 million passengers, making it the fourth busiest airport in Italy. SHORT HISTORY The foundation stone for the new airport of Venice was laid on March 29, 1958. The inauguration of the airport took place on July 31, 1961, and the airport quickly became the reference airport in the Veneto region, to the detriment of the Treviso Airport. In July 2002, a new airport terminal was built, designed to adapt the airport to the continuous increase in air traffic. HOW TO GET THERE From Venice, you can get to the Marco Polo Airport by bus, either with the ACTV Line 5, or with the ATVO Express 35. For both buses, a single ticket costs 8€ and a round trip is 15€. Antonio Canova International Airport
Antonio Canova International Aiport, also known as the Treviso-Sant’Angelo Airport, is an airport located 3 kilometers west of Treviso and 31 kilometers north of Venice. The Treviso Airport can be considered the second airport of Venice, the first being Marco Polo International Airport. The airport has a single terminal divided into the Arrivals area, on the ground floor, and the Departures area, on the first floor, and a single runway completely redone in 2011. SHORT HISTORY Born in 1935 to meet the needs of the Aero Club of Treviso, it obtained the status of a civil airport in 1953, at the initiative of the local authorities. In May of the same year, the first international flight was inaugurated. Until the opening of the Marco Polo Airport, in 1960, the Treviso Airport was the reference airport for the nearby city of Venice. Starting with that year, it became exclusively a stopover for charter and cargo aircrafts.
