    AMT Genova

    AMT Genova is the company that holds the concession for public transport in Genoa, managing the following services: 1 metro line, 140 bus lines, 3 funiculars and 2 railways.   ROUTES The Genoa Metro connects the center of the city with the Certosa district, north-west of the city center. The line is about 7 kilometers long and includes 8 stations. AMT also offers 140 bus lines that connect over 1000 kilometers of the Genoese transport network. Volabus is the shuttle bus which makes the connection between the Cristoforo Colombo Airport and the city center. Navebus is another special route, which connects the Pegli district, to the west of Genoa, with the Old Port in the city center.   TIMETABLES The Genoa Metro provides services from 6.30 am to 11.00 pm. The trains arrive every 5 minutes during peak hours and about 7 minutes during off-peak hours. Some ATM bus lines operate non-stop. The Volabus shuttle runs from 5.00 am in the morning to 12.20 am at night.   FARES On the public transport network of Genoa, the tickets for Metro and buses are the same.     Cristoforo Colombo International Airport

    Christopher Columbus International Airport, commonly known as Aeroporto di Genova-Sestri Ponente, is an international airport built on an artificial peninsula, about 8 kilometers west of Genoa. The airport is named after the notable Genoese navigator and explorer Christopher Columbus and is the main airport of Liguria.   SHORT HISTORY Began in 1954 and inaugurated in 1962, the airport was initially equipped with a 2,285 meter runway and a temporary terminal. The temporary structure survived until 1986, when the new and definitive airport was inaugurated. The airport was built on an artificial peninsula created by filling a stretch of sea. Its construction required 8 years of work and the excavation of the nearby hill of Monte Croce. In 2018, with 1,455,626 passengers, the Genoa Airport was the 21st busiest Italian airport by passenger traffic.   HOW TO GET THERE To get to the airport from the city center, and vice versa, you can use the free shuttle bus SP, which runs every day from 6.00 am to 8.00 pm between Principe Piazza Acquaverde and Sestri Ponente.
