    Venice Airport

Venice Airport, officially known as Venice Marco Polo Airport, is the main international airport serving Venice, the Venetian Lagoon and a large part of northeastern Italy. The airport is located at Tessera, on the mainland of the Municipality of Venice. The airport is named after Marco Polo, the famous Venetian merchant, traveler and writer whose journeys connected Venice with Asia in the medieval period. Its official Italian name is Aeroporto di Venezia Marco Polo, while it is also commonly called Aeroporto di Venezia-Tessera, because of its location near Tessera. Venice Airport lies about 7.5 kilometers northeast of Venice city center in a straight line, while the road distance to Piazzale Roma, the main road terminal of Venice, is around 13 kilometers. The airport is managed by SAVE S.p.A., the company that also controls Treviso Airport. Venice Marco Polo Airport is the main airport of the Venice area, while Treviso Airport mainly serves low-cost traffic and is sometimes commercially associated with Venice by airlines and tour operators. The airport is important for tourism because Venice is one of the world’s most visited cities. It also serves business travel, cruise passengers, regional traffic from Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and international visitors heading Read more [...]

Antonio Canova International Airport, also known as Treviso-Sant’Angelo Airport or simply Treviso Airport, is an international airport located near the city of Treviso, in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy. Venice Marco Polo Airport remains the main airport for Venice, but Treviso is an important alternative, especially for low-cost flights and routes connecting Veneto with many European destinations. The airport is located along Via Noalese, close to the urban area of Treviso and near the road network that links the city with Venice, Padua and the wider Veneto region. It lies about 5 kilometers from Treviso city center, around 25 kilometers from Venice in a straight line, and about 40 kilometers from Padua.     Treviso Airport Infrastructure The airport has one passenger terminal, arranged on two main levels. Actv

ACTV, the historic public transport operator of Venice, is one of the most important mobility companies in the Venetian Lagoon. The acronym originally stood for Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano, the company created to manage public transport in Venice, Mestre, the lagoon islands and parts of the metropolitan area. Today, ACTV operates within the wider AVM Group, the mobility system controlled by the Municipality of Venice. Its services are essential for both residents and visitors, because transport in Venice depends on a combination of waterbuses, ferries, buses, trams and interchanges between land and lagoon routes. In Venice, public transport is not only a practical service, but a structural part of the city. The historic center has no ordinary road traffic, so the vaporetto network replaces buses and metro lines, connecting railway stations, parking terminals, islands, hospitals, residential areas and major tourist zones. The main junction between land and water transport is Piazzale Roma, located at the western edge of the historic center. This square stands at the end of Ponte della Libertà, the road bridge linking Mestre to Venice across the lagoon. Piazzale Roma is one of the few places in Venice where road vehicles can arrive. From there, passengers Read more [...]
