It is dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta, the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and stands in Piazza Duomo, in the northern part of the historic center. The Verona Cathedral is not an isolated monument. It is the central building of the Cathedral Complex, which also includes San Giovanni in Fonte, Sant’Elena, the Canons’ cloister, archaeological remains, the bishop’s residence and the Capitular Library.
