Faro Rosso is a lighthouse located on the breakwater of the port of Monopoli, in the Apulia region of southern Italy. Positioned at the entrance of the harbor, it serves as a critical navigational aid for vessels approaching the port from the Adriatic Sea. The lighthouse stands at the end of Molo Margherita, the southern breakwater that protects the port basin from sea currents and wave action. Faro Rosso directly overlooks Porto Vecchio, the historic harbor of Monopoli, and is located near the Castle of Charles V, forming an integral part of the city’s maritime landscape. Its distinctive red-and-white appearance makes it immediately recognizable from both land and sea.
