Simple Minds was formed in 1977, in Glasgow. The current lineup of the band consists of the two remaining original members – Jim Kerr (vocals) and Charlie Burchill (electric & acoustic guitars, saxophone and violin), and the more recent members – Ged Grimes (bass guitar), Cherisse Osei (drums), Sarah Brown (backing vocals) and Gordy Goudie (additional guitar & keyboards).
Simple Minds became best known internationally for their hit Don’t You (Forget About Me), released in 1985. Their other prominent hit singles include Alive and Kicking and Belfast Child.
They were the most commercially successful Scottish band of the 1980s and, over the course of their career, they sold more than 60 million albums.
