Foo Fighters was formed in 1994, in Seattle, Washington, by Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl following the dissolution of Nirvana.
Prior to the release of the band’s eponymous debut album in 1995, Dave Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel, drummer William Goldsmith and guitarist Pat Smear. Goldsmith quit during the recording of the group’s second album, The Colour and the Shape, released in 1997. Smear departed soon afterwards, but rejoined the band later, in 2011. The current lineup of the band also includes drummer Taylor Hawkins, guitarist Chris Shiflett and keyboardist Rami Jaffee.
The third album of the band, There Is Nothing Left to Lose, was released in 1999, and their fourth album, One by One, in 2002. The next release of the group was the double album, In Your Honor, in 2005, followed by Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, in 2007. The band’s seventh studio album, Wasting Light, was released in 2011.
In November 2014, the band’s eighth studio album, Sonic Highways, was released. On September 15, 2017, the band released their ninth studio album, Concrete and Gold, which became their second to reach number one in the United States. Over the years, four of the band’s albums won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album.
The I-Days Festival was born in 1999, in Bologna, under the name Independent Days Festival. The 2009 and 2018 editions were held in Milan and the 2016 edition took place in Monza.
Over time, many important bands and artists performed on the stage of the festival, among which we can mention Blink-182, Limp Bizkit, Deftones, Muse, Coldplay, Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails, Deep Purple, Arcade Fire, Green Day, Radiohead, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, The Killers, Placebo and Liam Gallagher.
In 2020, the festival will take place in the months of June and July, in Milan. Besides Foo Fighters, the 2020 edition of the festival will feature performances from Aerosmith, System of a Down, Korn, Vasco Rossi, Billie Eilish and Finneas.
AREA EXPO Experience is a park built in the area of Expo 2015, in Milan, which hosts sports events, cultural manifestations and concerts.
